FASTEST CAR

As we all know, gas prices continue to skyrocket and the economy is sputtering. down. For people who have the “need for speed”, the only thing that matters is going extremely fast down the road.
Now if you’re looking a fast car that you can also haul 6 people, or store lots of groceries, you’re out of luck “speed racer.” These cars are built for speed and looks, and not much else.
For example, the French-made Bugatti Veyron races from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and effortlessly cruises to a top speed of 253 mph.
Tom duPont, who’s the publisher of duPont Registry, a gallery of fine automobiles, cautions that superfast cars “aren’t for the faint of heart financially or physically.”

Suzuki Swift X Concept

Rate this News:
Do you remember the Suzuki Swift Sport test drive that we made a couple weeks ago(3rd page of the news)? If not you should stick around more often ! Well, to make it short it left disappointed about the performances but satisfied with the design. What was even more disappointing is the fact that Suzuki racing cars, mostly represented in the JWRC(Junior World Rally Championship, 1600cc)are brilliant. It started a couple years ago with the Ignis and it continues with the Swift, the proof being 3 cars among the top 4 of the category on a total of 5(Swift)engaged !All that we ask for is more sensations behind the wheel of a Suzuki Swift !Well it seems that the japanese manufacturer from the Shizuoka prefecture heard our call and presented the "Swift X Concept" at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Salon. While the stock Swift has got a soft and sporty design , here, we are taken into another dimension; the racing dimension, at least from what the exterior tells us. The body kit(front/rear bumpers, side skirts, rear wing)is impressive and almost fully made of carbon fiber, the exception comes from the rear where the job done on the visible part of the exhaust system is very nice.It is obvious that this Swift wasn't made to be taken on muddy rally stages but rather on the sweet tarmac of a race track, or is it ?Once the "Lambo-doors" opened we get to see an interior mixing the Racing World; bucket seats, steering wheel, rollcage...and the Tuning World; neons and a huge and well designed audio system in the back.In the end this Swift X Concept probably stands where it belongs in this Tokyo Auto Salon, the quality of the work is again excellent, we'll see in the future if this was simply a Concept or a little bit more.

HYDROGEN CAR

Hydro's President and CEO Eivind Reiten and State Secretary Steinulf Tungesvik of the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications took a spin in a hydrogen-powered car during the opening of Hydro's hydrogen fueling station in Porsgrunn last week.
"The future belongs to those who can develop new energy solutions with little impact on the environment," Reiten said at the opening ceremony.
"The work with the Hydrogen Highway and the hydrogen station here at Porsgrunn is an example that it is possible to find solutions that are good for the environment when politicians, the authorities, organizations and industry pull in the same direction."
About 40 public and private partners are cooperating in building the 'Hydrogen Highway' between Oslo and Stavanger.
In addition to Oslo, Porsgrunn and Stavanger, stations will be built in Lyngdal and Drammen for the Hydrogen Highway opening in 2009.
Reiten helped State Secretary Tungesvik fill up the first "tank" of hydrogen in one of the new vehicles. Tungesvik was also the first to actually drive one of the cars for a short tour.
"Hydrogen can be one of the future’s most important energy carriers for transportation. It is, however, vital to produce the hydrogen from renewable energy sources, or from fossil fuels in which the CO2 emissions has been taken care of," Tungesvik said, before sliding behind the wheel.
The petrochemicals plant at nearby Rafnes supplies hydrogen as a by-product of its other activities , and the energy used in the hydrogen production comes from pure hydropower. An undersea gas pipeline transports the hydrogen from Rafnes across a fjord to the hydrogen station.
The station is the first in Norway that is directly connected to the source of production, which also lessens the environmental impact of transport. The location near a large industrial site also makes it easier to expand later, as demand for hydrogen increases.

Suzuki Kizashi

If you do down the ’Ring today, you’re sure of a big surprise… because you’ll see the new Suzuki Kizashi saloon running round, getting ready for launch next year.
The first we knew of the existence of a Suzuki saloon was when the wraps came off the Kizashi concept at the Frankfurt motor show in 2007. Since then, there have been two more concepts, cunningly called Kizashi 2 and Kizashi 3, as well as shots of heavily disguised cars in grainy spy shots. But now, our spies have spotted the production car virtually undisguised lapping the Nürburgring. Engine-wise it’ll get at least a 2.0-litre turbodiesel, and 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.6-litre V6 petrol engines mated to an auto box. The car is being developed with four-wheel drive too. There are also plans for both hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell versions too, but these won’t bit ready until 2012 at least.
